It is Christmas time, and while many of us say that Jesus is the reason for the season, it is easy to get caught up in what's under the tree, or in the parties, or even in the time with loved ones. So how to we remember that Jesus is the reason for the season? What does that even mean?
We give each other gifts to celebrate the gift God gave us when he gave us Jesus. That's the real reason we started celebrating Christmas.
If you are up for a challenge, do the following:
Step 1. Take an index card or a piece of paper and write down "I am thankful that God gave me Jesus because_______________________. Fill in your reason, or reasons. Make sure they are personal and meaningful to you.
Step 2. Write down the name of a friend or family member that you think would benefit from the gift of Jesus.
Step 3. Pray for that person every day for at least 1 week.
Step 4. Sometime between now and Christmas, ask that person why they enjoy "the holidays" and tell them your reason for being thankful from Step 1.
I'd love to hear your reasons for being thankful that God gave you Jesus and your stories about sharing that with the people that matter in your life.
